Blacklist Patrol
Blacklist Patrol proactively monitors major anti-spam blacklists to check if your email server has been listed on any of them.
You're notified daily by email of any blacklists our monitoring system finds your server on.
How did my server get on a blacklist and how can I get off?
Different blacklists have different criteria for inclusion.
Some possible reasons include:
Having an email server which the blacklist believes is an "open relay" - allowing spammers to send email using it
Sharing an email server, network or ISP with someone who sends spam
Having PCs on your network that have been infected by "spam zombie" software
The first step after finding out that you've been listed is to visit the blacklist's information page. This page will hopefully provide information as to why you were blacklisted, and what the process for being removed from the list is.
Many blacklists list addresses for multiple reasons. Sometimes the "result code" provided (such as 127.0.0.2 or 127.0.0.4) can provide an indication of the reason for being listed. Again, see the blacklist's information page for details.
Many blacklists have a policy of simply removing anyone who asks to have their address removed.
However, once you understand why you were listed, it's crucial to resolve the issue. If you ask to have your address removed without eliminating the reason you were listed, you will likely find yourself blacklisted again in a short period of time.
Unfortunately, Blacklist Patrol cannot communicate on your behalf with blacklist providers or otherwise help with the removal process.
